Webinar: Learn how brownfields and agrivoltaics are helping rural communities attract investment and support sustainable growth
Join the Redevelopment Institute on June 20 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. PST to learn tactics to help rural communities and small towns attract investment and put underutilized properties to productive use. While brownfields redevelopment has long served as a pathway to revitalization, emerging strategies like agrivoltaics are opening new opportunities that connect land reuse with energy generation and agricultural productivity.
This webinar offers a preview of the upcoming Brownfields 2025 and Solar Farm Summitconferences and will explore how communities can prepare sites and local leadership to support investment. Speakers will discuss what developers look for in rural markets, how small-town coaching helps align local goals with viable reuse strategies, and how agrivoltaics can increase food yields, support clean energy goals, and generate new revenue streams for landowners and farmers.
The Department of Defense Community Noise Mitigation Program is a competitive grant program designed to assist state, local governments and tribal entities impacted by military fixed-wing aviation noise – to include those impacted by both active and guard/reserve installations. Eligible proposers must be impacted by military fixed-wing aviation noise, meaning they are located within one (1) mile of a military installation or another location at which military aircraft are stationed or within a day-night average sound level of 65 decibels or greater of a military installation. Funds will cover installation of noise mitigation insulation at covered facilities, including the installation of air conditioning.
RIA funds assist eligible entities in developing improved infrastructure priorities and financing strategies for the accelerated development of projects that are eligible for funding under the US DOT’s Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA).
This program will designate and fund RIAs that will provide the following types of assistance to TIFIA-eligible projects:
Project planning
Studies and analysis that include feasibility, market, project costs, cost-benefit, public benefit, economic assessments, environmental reviews, studies, and analysis
Revenue forecasting, funding and financing options analysis, application of best practices, innovative financing/procurement, and public-private partnerships when appropriate
Preliminary engineering and design work
Statutory and regulatory framework analyses
Assessment of opportunities for private financing, project bundling, and/or phasing
Enhancement of rural project sponsors’ capacity to use the TIFIA program
Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) program, private activity bonds (PABs), and other innovative financing methods
Other direct, project-specific support, as appropriate
Projects that demonstrate long-term self-sustainability will be given greater consideration.
The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program is offering grants up to $250,000 for capital improvement projects that enhance the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields. Eligible applicants include nonprofit, community-based organizations, as well as schools, parks, and recreation departments working in partnership with local nonprofits.
A one-to-one funding match is required. Proposals will be prioritized if they aim to improve underused or poor-condition facilities, show active field use, secure more than one-to-one matching funds, involve partnerships with community nonprofits, ensure ongoing maintenance and safety, and support youth football programs aligned with USA Football’s education standards.
