Grants to Make Community Roads Safer
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) competitive grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years (2022-2026). The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries. Approximately $2 billion is still available for future funding rounds.

Protecting and Enhancing Wetland Habitats
The Standard Grants Program is a competitive, matching grant program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects that further the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act.
Eligible Applicants:
• Private Educational Institutions
• State, County, City, Township, Special District Governments
• Nonprofits
• Independent School Districts
• Native American Tribal Organizations (Non-Federally Recognized)
• Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized)
• Small Businesses
Eligible Projects Must Include:
• Long-term protection, restoration, enhancement and/or establishment of wetland and associated upland habitats to benefit diversity of wetland ecosystems
• Maintain an abundance of waterfowl (ducks, geese, and swans) and other populations of wetlands-associated migratory birds consistent with the objectives of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan, Shorebird Conservation Plan, Waterbird Conservation Plan for the Americas, and Partners in Flight Bird Conservation Plan
One to one matching is required. Research not eligible.
Award Range: $250K to $3M

Fighting Wildland Fires with Science: Fire Science Innovations through Research and Education (FIRE) Program
The FIRE Program invites innovative multidisciplinary and multisector investigations focused on convergent research and education activities in wildland fire. All areas of science, engineering, and education supported by the National Science Foundation are included in this program.
Proposals Should Include (one or more):
• Advances in data collection, storage, and sharing relevant to dynamics, including Earth observations
• Understanding modeling and computations
• Understanding cross scale interactions
• Insights into community adaptation and governance
• Approaches to reduce vulnerability of built infrastructure, natural fuels, and social systems
• Engagement of a variety of community members and stakeholders to promote a forward-looking approach

Improving the Truckee River Watershed
The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada is accepting proposals for grants from the Truckee River Fund. The mission of the Truckee River Fund is to protect and enhance water quality, or water resources of the Truckee River, or its watershed. To be considered for funding, project proposals must demonstrate measurable impact in accordance with this mission.
Proposals will be considered by the Truckee River Fund Advisory Committee and grant recommendations must be approved both by the TMWA Board and the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation.

• Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)
• Watershed Improvements
• Local Stormwater Improvement
• Re-Forestation and Re-Vegetation Projects
• Support to Rehabilitation of Local Tributary Creeks and Drainage Courses

Helping Canines and Soldiers Transition Back into Civilian Life
The William E. Dean III Charitable Foundation is accepting applications in support of non-profits helping canines and soldiers with the transition back into civilian life, or for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Dr. Dean attended both the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Nevada. He served in the US Air Force during Vietnam and later graduated with honors from dental school. In addition to all of his accomplishments, he was a registered Texas longhorn rancher, recreational pilot, and avid animal lover.
Award Range: $5K to $10K
