The Nevada Speed Test is hosted by Western Nevada Development District (WNDD) and is part of the Western Nevada Broadband Initiative, a network of public and private partners working to expand internet access and build a stronger digital infrastructure in urban and rural communities across the WNDD region.
The purpose is to ensure that every home and business in western Nevada has access to affordable, adequate, and reliable high-speed internet in order to fully participate in a digital economy and society.
The Initiative will determine broadband speeds as well as where there is a need for broadband but none is available. This information will give elected officials and agencies the critical information needed to support identification of projects to address the broadband inadequacies of their communities and to apply for broadband expansion grants across the WNDD region.
